Realistic Flames Airbrushing
by Chuck Bauman

Realistic Flames Paint Jobs are super popular. Again there is wide variety of flame styles that fall into this category. Custom real fire paint jobs that depict flames realistically rather than stylized hot rod flames, are Realistic Flames. The least realistic of these flames are often called Tribal Flames.
Some "realistic flames" are more realistic than others and my preference is the more realistic versions that are close to photo-realistic fire. Examples below show the complete range of flames from completely stylized to actual photos of flames. Frankly they all look cool so it's a matter of your choice.

Stylized Flames -- a.k.a. "hot rod" flames -- in monochrome and fogged flame colors

More Tribal Flames by Chuck Bauman, Tribal Flames variations that I've done. Also note that you get a completely different feel for any flames when you see the upright as opposed to horizontal. Usually we are painting flames horizontal on a vehicle but be sure to flip around all the picture you see of flame jobs and your own work to get a feel for how you can change the look and get a better look for what you are trying to do and where.

These Realistic Flames airbrushing effects are more difficult and time-consuming than the common hot rod flames that you usually see but I really love doing them.
